Folegandros is a small island north-west of Santorini which has only about 750 inhabitants. We are staying in Chora, one of its three villages. During the 20th century Folegandros served as a place of political exile, exactly as it had been during Roman occupation two thousand years ago. By 1970 the island had lost much of its population but tourism over the last 20 years has been a boost. It is very quiet and relaxed here at this time of year and Chora has the feel of a traditional Greek village with many older people sitting in in the squares and streets watching the world go by.
We've got a great apartment, with a view of the hills and pool.
Back at our apartment we were the only ones using the pool.
We had drinks on our rooftop balcony listening to Sinatra while we watched the sun go down, before popping down to a restaurant in a nearby square for dinner.
